Did Your IBS Start After An Illness?

ibs.about.com - Sat, 03/13/2010 - 20:11

Many people tell me that their IBS symptoms started after a time in which they were really sick. Technically, this is known as post infectious IBS. Can you remember being sick before your IBS started? Was it food poisoning or some unknown stomach bug? My newest article offers you a place to tell your story: what was the original illness, what symptoms are you dealing with now, and what have you learned about what helps and what hurts. Share your experience and find out what brought on IBS in others:

Book Review: "The First Year: IBS"

ibs.about.com - Thu, 03/11/2010 - 22:47

In my honest opinion, the Dan Brown of the IBS world is Heather Van Vorous. Her writing skills are excellent, with a flair for combining no-jargon science with warm support. My newest book review is of Van Vorous's book, "The First Year: IBS". Don't make the mistake that I did in thinking that this is a memoir. Far from it, "The First Year: IBS" is a handbook for living a rich, satisfying life in spite of the disruptiveness of IBS. I cannot recommend this book highly enough:
